When it comes to flat irons, Sedu is often called the “best” in the industry. A lot of women know this brand because it’s used by Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston. It also appears pretty often in fashion magazines including Elle & Allure. I decided to check out Sedu and see what all the buzz was about.
I have to say that the Sedu blew me away from the start! After reading so many great reviews, I was expecting a lot from the Sedu hair straightener and it totally delivered. The extra smooth plates just glide through my thick hair like it’s not even there (Amazing!). I have tried MANY different hair straighteners, and Sedu works better than all of them (even the more expensive irons like GHD).
With just a single pass through each section of my hair, the Sedu makes it pin straight with no hair pulling! I cannot say this about any other flat iron that I have ever used.
Bottom Line – In my opinion, if you have thick, long, curly or unmanageable hair, the best flat iron that you can buy comes down to Sedu vs. Solia! The determining factor being the price. If your’e on a tight budget, then go with Solia, you won’t be disappointed, but if you can spend about $40 more, DEFINITELY go with the Sedu flat iron. I just can’t tell you how happy I am with Sedu.

My Experience With Sedu
Like all of the major flat iron makers, Sedu is extremely high tech. They use solid tourmaline and ceramic plates for their irons. These are known throughout the hairstyling world because they infuse moisture into your hair and really make it shine. Tourmaline is a precious stone that releases negative ions when it’s heated. It reacts with the positive charge in your hair to smooth it out. These negative ions also make sure that the hair cuticles aren’t damaged.
Negative ionic technology is nothing new when it comes to flat irons, but Sedu’s irons release 5 to 6 times more ions than a regular one does. This is one of the things that makes it so safe to use. These negative ions ensure that your hair isn’t damaged by all of the heat.
One more thing about the plates is that they’re “micro-smooth.” This means that they’re polished to be extra smooth. When you’re using the iron, you can keep up a steady motion without worrying about your hair catching. The iron glides right through.
Sedu flat irons have temperature settings that range from 240 to 410 degrees Fahrenheit. This gives you lots of choices and you can experiment with different temperatures to see how it does. The higher settings don’t necessarily get you straighter hair. It’s really more about what setting you’re most comfortable with and what setting gets you the best results.
Styling With Sedu Flat Irons
Sedu flat irons heat up really fast. If you set your iron to the highest setting it takes about 25 seconds to get hot. If you’re using a lower setting, it’s even faster. This is definitely one of the fastest-heating flat irons you can buy.
The irons are light and they have an ergonomic design so they’re really easy to hold. They also have swivel cords that are 9 feet long so you don’t have to worry about it getting in the way or tangling while you’re styling.
Lots of flat irons wriggle a little bit when you clamp them down, but one of the nice things about Sedu’s irons is that they don’t do this at all. It feels really solid when you clamp it down on your hair. As you move through each strand, the flat irons glides smoothly. You don’t have to worry about your hair getting caught on the plates like it does with some flat irons, which is one of the nicest things about using them.
You can do a lot more with Sedu flat irons than just straighten. They can curl or add waves thanks to the plates’ rounded edges. The heating technology and tourmaline protects your hair from fading by sealing the cuticles and sealing in moisture. And because there are so many temperature control features, they’re great for all kinds of hair including hair that’s damaged or brittle.
Unique Features – What Sets Sedu Apart
There is one main difference with Sedu flat irons compared to the other top brands on the market. Sedu has ultra smooth plates, which allow the hair strands to pass through the iron with less resistance. This is an especially important feature for anyone that has thick or curly hair. If you have used a flat iron before and noticed that it pulled your hair, then Sedu would be great for you because it minimizes this pulling more than any other flat iron that I have ever used.
Their flat irons also come with a good extended warranty that protects you from defects or faulty materials. There is also an IDCI plug that makes it safer to use by preventing electrical shock.
The Downsides Of Sedu Flat Irons
There are just a few things that I don’t like about Sedu. One is that their flat irons use 75 watts of energy, which isn’t so much but it’s a bit more than other flat irons use. These aren’t the most energy-efficient styling tools you can buy.
Some customers have complained that their Sedu irons feel cheap and that the plastic is cheap looking. My opinion is that the iron is very lightweight compared to some of the other brands like GHD, which is great for styling, but I can see what people are talking about when they say the plastic looks a little cheap. All I can say is that my Sedu has lasted over a year now with no problems at all and I do really like how this straightener is very light and easy on my arm.
I’ve also read from some reviews that there are occasional wiring problems, especially at the point where the cord is connected to the iron. They said that sometimes while they were using it, it would short out or it wouldn’t provide enough power. All I can say about this is make sure that you get the warranty because it protects you from this. I have not had this problem with my Sedu, but I also do a pretty good job of taking care of my flat irons. Don’t be rough with it, drop it, throw it in a drawer or wrap the cord around it and you should be fine.
The one other downside is that you can only buy from authorized dealers. They don’t sell their flat irons through their site, but they provide a list of places where you can buy them. Folica is really the only good place to buy Sedu, and I really wouldn’t trust any other site.
Overall, I’d say that Sedu flat irons are easy to use and effective at getting your hair straight, sleek and soft. The quality tourmaline plates are definitely a plus and I love the “micro smooth” action. It just glides right through my hair!

I have tried the solia flat iron, but I think I need a new one. I see that Sedu gets really great reviews online. Do you really think Sedu is better than Solia? Or should I just stick with what I know?
hmmm… I love both, but you might want to try out Sedu. See if you like it better than your Solia. The Sedu has super smooth plates and glides through your hair like you wouldn’t believe. Many reviewers that have problems with hair straighteners that pull their hair say that Sedu is better than all of them.
I would probably go for the Sedu. I have tried my friends Sedu and could not believe how good it worked. Never tried Solia, but i plan on buying a Sedu of my own as soon as I can afford it.
